LETTER TO THE EDITOR

10-14-12   Discovering the Unknown by a Student of the Game

It's been like standing on a castle-top parapet and looking through a spy-glass far off in the distance each morning.  What first was just an unclear image comprised of but a few black specks kicking up dust has become clearer and clearer each day.  And with clarity the bemused puzzlement and quizzical grins of the observers have been replaced with blank stares and jaws hung agape as the confusion of what is being watched has vanished.

You see, now each day's first light reveals the true nature of what's coming:  An army of soldiers trudging and lurching forward; a "barbaric" horde of separate elements glued together into a single behemoth.  Truly an invincible legion of warriors clad in body armor and clutching all kinds of swords, mace, hammers and clubs; however, what's more terrifying is being dragged behind these alien invaders -- siege engines and unknown weaponry so grotesque it can't be described!  Trebuchets, rolling towers, carts of of large round stones, barrels of pitch, arrows and spears and other strange rocket-like devices forming an endless stream.  And although frightening to behold there is one bit of comfort for the viewer as the unknown has now become the known.

It's the 2012 Pennsbury Falcons.
